About Us
Established in 1995, our well-loved Montessori centre has been part of the Johnsonville community for 29 years and holds a strong reputation within the Montessori community.
Hidden up a long driveway on a quiet residential back section, our converted two-storey house offers an authentic “home away from home” feel, surrounded by a natural outdoor environment. We are a small, family-focused preschool with two spacious classrooms of just 18 children each, allowing us to build genuine, meaningful relationships with tamariki and whānau.
Through these relationships, we understand family aspirations and cultural backgrounds, weaving them together with child development knowledge and Montessori philosophy to create individualised learning pathways.
Our children regularly connect with the wider community, including visits to our local maunga, Mount Kaukau, nurturing a sense of belonging to both community and the land of Aotearoa.

About the Role
You will work closely with a core group of nine children within a class of 18, supporting their development, social learning, and preparation for life within a Montessori environment.
- Full-time, permanent position
- 8:00am–4:30pm (8:30am start considered)
- Monday to Friday (non-negotiable)
- 2 hours non-contact time weekly
- Fortnightly staff meetings: 4:30pm–6:00pm
This role would suit a teacher who values calm purpose, respectful relationships, and Montessori authenticity. What We’re Looking For
- Level 7 ECE qualification (BEd/Dip Teaching)
- Current Teacher Certification
- Montessori qualification preferred (or willingness to undertake Montessori training)
- Strong knowledge of child-led learning and curriculum planning
- Understanding of ECE regulations, Te Whāriki, and commitment to compliance
- Clear commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
- Passion for delivering high-quality teaching and learning
- A calm, observant teaching style aligned with Montessori philosophy
