Are you currently studying towards your Level 7 ECE qualification and passionate about teaching young children? BestStart Oamaru Kindy is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher in Training to join our experienced and close-knit team.

About Us

BestStart Oamaru Kindy is a well-established centre located in a beautifully converted villa that creates a warm, welcoming, and homely environment for tamariki and their whānau. We cater for children aged 2 to 5 years and are licensed for up to 35 children. Our large, private, and sheltered outdoor space encourages exploration, curiosity, and connection through nature.

Our teaching philosophy, "Learning as we play, growing as we learn together," reflects our commitment to nurturing capable, confident learners in partnership with families. We place strong value on fostering independence, self-confidence, and essential life skills in every child.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday) ideal for someone currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) or Graduate Diploma (ECE). You’ll be supported by a team that values collaborative learning, ongoing development, and high-quality teaching practices.

What We’re Looking For

  • Enrolled in a Level 7 ECE Bachelor or Graduate Diploma programme
  • A solid understanding of child-led curriculum and planning
  • Knowledge of Te Whāriki and the ECE regulatory framework
  • A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice
  • Passion, dedication, and a focus on delivering high-quality learning experiences
