BestStart Ferry Road is looking for a passionate, motivated Teacher-in-Training to join our energetic, close-knit team. Guided by our philosophy, “Where culture thrives,” we are a centre where every child, whānau, and Kaiako feels a true sense of belonging.

When you walk through our doors, you’ll feel the warmth of our community. We celebrate diversity, value each child’s home culture, and build strong, respectful partnerships with whānau. These relationships form the heart of our centre and create a vibrant environment where tamariki love to learn, explore, and grow.

About the Role

We are seeking a nurturing Teacher-in-Training (Year 1–2) to join our Ōtākaro preschool room, supporting tamariki aged 2–3.5 years

This is a permanent role, 27.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with the possibility of increased hours in the future.

Our cosy over-twos space offers:

  • Purposefully designed environments — indoor and outdoor spaces that inspire exploration
  • Personalised learning — experiences aligned to each child’s interests and milestones
  • Child-led curriculum — encouraging curiosity, independence, and discovery
  • Nature-rich outdoor play — supporting challenge, resilience, and joy
