Teacher-in-Training (BestStart Aidanfield)
BestStart Aidanfield is a warm, welcoming centre with a strong sense of community. Our small, home-like environment includes three classrooms, a dedicated team of experienced teachers, and an onsite cook who prepares nutritious meals daily. With a spacious outdoor area next to a park, children have plenty of opportunities to explore and play. Our curriculum is enriched by the natural beauty of the Port Hills, Te Waihora, and the Canterbury Plains—areas of cultural and environmental significance to local iwi and native wildlife.
We are looking for a Teacher in Training who is passionate about early childhood education and eager to learn while studying. Our centre truly supports teachers in training, offering a nurturing and collaborative environment where you can grow your skills. With a well-established team and strong whānau connections, we are proud to provide a learning space where both children and teachers thrive.
About the Role
We need a team player who is currently enrolled in a Level 7 ECE Bachelor’s programme and keen to develop their teaching practice in a supportive environment. This is a permanent, part-time position (30 hours per week, Monday to Friday) on a rotating roster between 7 am – 6 pm.

What We’re Looking For
- A team player who is keen to learn in a supportive environment
- Enrolment in a Level 7 ECE Bachelor’s course - Ideally in their 1st Year of study
- Understanding of child-led curriculum, with a passion for extending children's learning
- Strong knowledge of ECE regulations, Te Whāriki, and a commitment to compliance
- A dedication to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and incorporating bicultural practices in teaching
