BestStart Cashmere is looking for a passionate and dedicated Qualified and Certificated Nursery Teacher to join our close-knit, experienced teaching team in our under 2’s learning space.

At BestStart Cashmere, our practice is rooted in our local curriculum and deep respect for kaitiakitanga—caring for ourselves, each other, our place, and our things. We are proud of our warm, nurturing Nursery environment with a small group of 12 tamariki and strong 1:4 ratios. Our exceptionally large outdoor space and special garden provide an inspiring setting for meaningful learning and connection.

About the Role:

This is a permanent, part-time role working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Whether you’re a newly qualified teacher or bring years of experience, if you are committed to high-quality care for our youngest tamariki, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Providing exceptional care and intentional teaching in a calm, nurturing environment
  • Creating engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences for under 2s
  • Observing and documenting children’s progress and planning toward individual learning goals
  • Building strong relationships with children, whānau, and your teaching team
  • Collaborating closely with a supportive and passionate team 

About You:

  • Hold a Level 7 ECE qualification and current NZ Teacher Certification
  • Have experience working in a Nursery setting and a genuine passion for this age group 
  • Confident in implementing a child-led curriculum and responsive planning 
  • Strong working knowledge of ECE Regulations, Te Whāriki and a commitment to compliance 
  • Embrace Te Tiriti o Waitangi in daily teaching practices 
  • Enthusiastic, reflective, and committed to delivering high-quality education
