Our Organisation:
At BestStart, we’re leaders in the early childhood sector, we make a difference and we love what we do. We provide high-quality early education and award-winning childcare for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. BestStart Leeds Street is seeking a passionate and dedicated Qualified and Registered Teacher to join our energetic and tight-knit team as our new Head Teacher in our Harakeke Room, working alongside our under 2-year-old tamariki.
BestStart Leeds Street is conveniently situated in the inner city of Wellington. However, we believe our learning environment extends beyond our property and into the surrounding city. We are urban explorers and can be seen out and about the central city every week. We promote a collaborative approach to planning where meaningful relationships with whānau are priority. Our Centre culture is based around trusting and respectful relationships.
Our team is very culturally diverse, stemming from many different corners of the world. We are all very confident in our identity and love experiencing and embracing each other’s cultures. We have free staff parking available for our leadership staff and are located close to public transport.

About the Role:
This is a permanent position working 40 hours Monday-Friday.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced educator to take the next step in their career. We aim to empower all of our tamariki to learn through a holistic lens; providing them with plenty of support to be active explorers, researchers and decision makers in their own learning.
Our Harakeke room is for our smallest pepē where we draw knowledge from both Rie and Pikler. This means we provide tamariki with the freedom of movement to explore, develop and learn at their own pace. An unhurried approach to development is our focus, with trusting and respectful teaching practices consistently reflected within our daily routines.
Role requirements:
We're looking for a natural leader who shares our values and vision who has a good understanding of programme planning and assessment as well as a drive and passion for growth.
