About us:
BestStart Welcome Bay is a vibrant early learning center located on the main road of Welcome Bay, providing care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We’re open year-round from 7.30am to 5.30pm, offering flexible childcare options—part-time, full-time, and sessional—to meet the needs of our diverse families. Our center is nestled by the estuary, creating a natural and inspiring environment for tamariki to explore. The strong connections within our community foster a welcoming atmosphere where whānau, staff, and tamariki feel a true sense of belonging.

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and qualified teacher ready to step into a leadership role as Head Teacher in our Under two's area,. In this full-time position (40 hours per week), you will mentor and support your team, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning throughout our environment. You will guide your team in their professional growth, fostering a collaborative and nurturing atmosphere that aligns with our values of whanaungatanga, trust, and respect. This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to grow their leadership capabilities in a close-knit, nature-inspired setting.

Role requirements:  We're looking for a natural leader who shares our values and vision who has a good understanding of programme planning and assessment as well as a drive and passion for growth.  

  • B Ed/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) and current Teacher Certification 
  • A strong understanding of programme planning, pedagogy and curriculum 
  • Good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whariki and hold compliance in a high regard 
  • Passion and commitment for teaching and learning with a focus on delivering quality
