ECE Cook (BestStart Claudelands)
About the Role:
Whether you’re a newly qualified or experienced chef, if you have a passion for preparing meals for young children, we’d love to hear from you. We’re looking for an energetic and organised Centre Cook to join our early childhood centre (licensed for 44 children), where you’ll plan, prepare, and serve fresh, nutritious, and delicious meals each day.
In this role, you’ll create appetising, culturally diverse menus for morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea, while catering to a range of dietary needs. You’ll bring strong time management skills and a solid understanding of child nutrition, taking pride in delivering cost-effective meals that support the wellbeing of our tamariki and meet Healthy Heart standards.
This is a permanent position working 25 hours per week Monday-Friday
Role requirements::
- Knowledge around health and safety in the kitchen and set high standards of hygiene and housekeeping
- Strong time‑management and organisational skills.
- A passion for cooking and baking
- An understanding of food safety, allergies and dietary requirements
- Be computer literate in order to design menus and place orders each week
- The ability to remain within the budgets for ordering food
- A passion for promoting healthy eating for young children
