ECE Cook (BestStart Beach Haven)
About the role:
We are looking for a new Centre Cook who is passionate about making delicious and nutritious food for our tamariki. In this role, you will be cooking for up to 120 children per day, ensuring they receive wholesome, balanced meals.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Work in your own large, purpose-built kitchen with great facilities., our cooking is in a central position and open to two classrooms.
- Be the sole cook, taking ownership of meal preparation, hygiene, and kitchen maintenance.
- Help design your menu within healthy guidelines and order the necessary food.
- Manage a budget while shopping for fresh, quality ingredients.
- Work closely with our teaching team to create seasonal, rotating menus every four weeks.
- Support our goal of achieving the Healthy Heart Award in 2025.
Someone with strong time management skills and knowledge of hygiene and cleaning is essential for this role. A food safety certificate is required, but training will be provided. Experience as a cook in an early childhood setting is preferred.
This is a permanent part-time role 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
What You’ll Do:
- Plan and prepare healthy, balanced meals within set guidelines.
- Manage ordering and budgeting for ingredients.
- Maintain high hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen.
- Support our Healthy Heart Award goal for 2025.
