BestStart Riccarton Park is seeking a passionate and caring individual to join our close-knit and energetic team. As a relatively new centre, we’ve been proudly serving our community for nearly a year. Our centre vision, ‘Growing Connections, Growing Community’, is reflected in everything we do. We are a diverse and welcoming space where tamariki and whānau from many cultures feel a strong sense of belonging.

We offer a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Access to Whare Ako, our online learning platform
  • Ongoing support for your professional growth
  • $2,000 referral bonus for referring a qualified teacher*
  • Discounted childcare
  • Subsidised health insurance through Southern Cross*
  • Free annual flu vaccinations
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Wellbeing programme and support
  • Sick leave available from your first day
  • One week of additional leave after 10 years of service

About the Role

As a Caregiver, you’ll help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where our tamariki can thrive. Working closely with our Centre Manager and teaching team, you’ll support children across all age groups, especially during break cover times. This is a permanent, part-time position, working 30 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide meaningful care and support to our tamariki
  • Engage in learning experiences that spark curiosity and creativity
  • Support the team and contribute to the smooth running of the centre
  • Work across all rooms, building relationships with children and staff

Our centre features thoughtfully designed, well-resourced spaces. From our welcoming foyer to our age-specific learning rooms, we’ve created an environment that inspires learning and connection.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone with:

  • A natural connection with children, especially infants and toddlers
  • Experience working with children under five (an ECE qualification is not required)
  • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to take direction
  • A genuine commitment to supporting the growth and development of young learners
